Kids Academy: “Kids Animation Lab”

Ever wonder how your favorite cartoons and films are made? Take a
class in the art of animation! Learn about the history of the moving
image from the time of the cavemen to your favorite characters like
Mickey Mouse and Sponge Bob. Come see how drawings move with weight
and lifelike emotions through the process of animation. From
storyboarding and developing ideas to flipbooks and stop motion
students will learn the techniques needed to make spectacular
animations anywhere! (Ages 6 to 12)

Day One:
- History - Who What Where - Cavemen to Disney and Beyond
- Learning basic drawing techniques - the use of shapes to create characters
- Drawing Mickey and SpongeBob

Day Two:
- Early Techniques - Thaumatrope, Phenakistascope, Zoetrope, Praxinoscope
- Make a Thaumatrope
- Storyboarding

Day Three:
- Acting - The study of movement and weight
- Layout
- Flip Books

Day Four:
- Emotions and facial studies
- Drawing characters with emotion
- Make strips for Praxinoscope
- Flip Books

Day Five:
- Design, Developing Stories
- Screening of project

Day Six:
- Stop Motion Collaboration.
